Korea exempts VTL travelers from SG from 10-day quarantine rule

VTL scheme to proceed “without change” amidst detection of Omicron variant in Korea.

Individuals fully vaccinated in Singapore and Korea can still travel to and from both countries under the Vaccinated Travel Lane (VTL) scheme, the Korean Embassy announced.

The embassy made the clarification after the Korean government imposed a 10-day quarantine rule for all inbound travelers from 3 December to 16 December.

In an advisory, the embassy said the VTL between the two countries will proceed “without change” despite the detection of the Omicron variant in Korea.

Fully-vaccinated travelers—either in Singapore or Korea—are eligible to use the VTL. 

Travelers from Singapore will be provided with a VTL traveler lanyard at Changi Airport after presenting documents such as pre-departure COVID-19 test result certificate issued within 72 hours of departure and vaccination certificate with QR code obtained from Notarise.

If an individual fully vaccinated in Singapore fails to obtain a QR code from Notarise, they will not be allowed to travel under the VTL scheme.

Meanwhile, those who were fully vaccinated in Korea will have to present their vaccination status with a QR code on the COOV app.

Travelers who will not be eligible to use the VTL are the following:

• Travellers from Singapore and Korea but who were not fully vaccinated in either of the two countries.
• Individuals who did not remain in Singapore or Korea for at least 14 days consecutively prior to travel to Korea

With the detection of the Omicron variant in Korea, the embassy has also suspended quarantine exemption for those traveling for the purpose of family visitation from 3 December to 16 December.
