Indonesia-Singapore summit to highlight Bintan Buoy’s potential

It will also focus on the travel bubble involving resorts in Batam and Bintan.

A meeting between Singapore’s Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong and Indonesia’s President Jokowi on Bintan Buoy is set to be held on 26 January at Bintan Buoy.

According to a report by OCBC Treasury Research’s Wellian Wiranto, the meeting will highlight issues such as flight zones, extradition treaty, and military cooperation

The economic agenda is also slated to be included especially because Singapore has also been the largest foreign direct investor in Indonesia since 2014.

Currently, tourist flows into Indonesia dropped by around 85% in 2020 from the pre-pandemic level.

To combat this, Indonesia has also announced a travel bubble, allowing Singaporeans to travel to resorts in Batam and Bintan without the seven-day quarantine rule. The meeting is also set to further solidify this argument.
