Flight demand soars in Singapore due to Coldplay and Taylor Swift concerts

The total searches to SG went up by 18% on average.

People buying tickets to go to Singapore went up as they anticipate Coldplay and Taylor Swift concerts in the city-state, read a report from Amadeus, a travel firm.

Amadeus said cities hosting significant concerts are experiencing noteworthy surges in travel search.

For example in Singapore, the total searches went up by nearly 20% on average week-over-week between weeks 23 and 27, covering both Taylor Swift and Coldplay concert announcements.

“Trips within the week and weekend trips were preferred over long trips, with searches for trips within a week growing by 20% in the same time frame. The data suggests that the concerts are the main drivers for this increase in comparison to the previous weeks,” read the report.

The data points are based on Amadues’ complete suite of air data in the travel industry and includes shopping transactions performed by more than 2,500 customers.
