Daily Briefing: NRIC and Singapore passport applications ditches paper forms by 2020; Online luxury marketplace Reebonz to list on NASDAQ

And Singtel launches its two-in-one EZ-link SIM card for tourists in Singapore.

From Channel News Asia:

Paper forms to apply for Singapore passports and National Registration Identity cards (NRIC) will be phased out by 2020 to make way for online applications, according to the Immigration and Checkpoints Authority (ICA).

Besides passport and NRIC applications, these services include applications for long-term visit passes, re-entry permits, permanent residency and citizenship, and requests for birth or death extracts.

In 2017, 88% of more than 5.5 million applications at the ICA were submitted online. The majority of those submitted in paper were for passports and NRICs, and they were submitted in person or mailed.

Applications made by the elderly can be made by family members and friends on their behalf, ICA said.

Online luxury marketplace Reebonz is expected to list on NASDAQ following its merger with US capital investment firm Draper Oakwood Technology Acquisition (DOTA).

Subsequent to the merger, both DOTA and Reebonz have become wholly-owned subsidiaries of a newly created Cayman Islands exempted company called Reebonz Holding (RBZ).

Draper Oakwood is a special purpose acquisition company which raised US$57.5m in an initial public offering (IPO) in 2017.

As per the deal, RBZ has issued 17,318,294 ordinary shares to the prior security holders of Reebonz. This will lead to the existing Reebonz shareholders to assume around 75% of the shares in the newly formed entity.

A NOTE FROM SINGAPORE BUSINESS REVIEW

You're the reader we write for. You're also the person our partners want to reach.

If that sentence describes you — a founder, a C-suite, someone whose attention companies pay good money for — then you already understand why SBR works. We've spent twenty years earning the trust of readers exactly like you. Which is exactly what makes this an interesting place for your company to show up, too.

The ways it can show up are broader than most people assume — thought leadership articles, sponsored content, industry summits across Southeast Asia, regional awards programmes, podcasts, and media placements in print and digital. The right fit depends on what you're trying to do, which is why we'd rather start with a conversation than send a rate card.

If your company has something this audience should know about, we'd like to hear what you're working on.

No rate cards until we understand the brief. It's a better use of everyone's time.
