ASEAN jetsetters pick Singapore over glitzy London, Paris

Proximity trumps luxury for most travellers.

Singapore has emerged as a hot favorite among ASEAN jetsetters, beating glitzy and well-established destinations like London and Paris.

MasterCard’s Consumer Purchasing Priorities survey showed that travellers from Indonesia, Myanmar, and Vietnam have named Singapore as their top global destination for travel, favoring the neighboring country over farther choice locations such as London, Paris and Tokyo

When asked to choose a destination in the Asia Pacific, Middle East and Africa (APMEA) region for an all-expense paid holiday, Singapore was again named by respondents from Indonesia, the Philippines, Myanmar, and Vietnam.

Meanwhile, majority of Singaporeans named Paris as their dream destination. Within the APMEA region, most Singaporean travellers dream of travelling to Tokyo.
