2.2 million Singaporeans have not used their SingapoRediscovers vouchers

The vouchers, designed to get locals spending on tourism services, will expire on 30 June.

Only around one-quarter, or 760,000, adult Singaporeans have used even part of their SingapoRediscovers Vouchers as of 28 March 2021. That leaves about 2.2 million adult Singaporeans who still haven’t redeemed theirs, according to the Minister for Trade and Industry Chan Chun Sing.

Responding to questions about the use of the vouchers, Chan said the Singapore Tourism Board (STB), together with onboarded merchants and authorised booking partners, will now intensify their efforts over the next few months.

“This includes sharing products and promotions across attractions, tours, and hotels, through STB and the authorised booking partner channels. Merchants are also encouraged to continue creating interesting products or bundles that will appeal to different groups of Singaporeans, or to work with each other to create such products,” the minister added.

Chan was also asked if the government would consider extending the redemption of the vouchers until the end of the year, but said that there would be no change with the existing redemption deadline of 30 June 2021.

“We will continue to monitor the redemption rate over the remaining months before considering if any extension of the redemption deadline is warranted. Meanwhile we encourage Singaporeans to redeem their vouchers early so that they are able to select their preferred products and timeslots,” Chan said.

Last September, Singaporeans aged 18 and above received $100 worth of SingapoRediscovers vouchers which can be used on staycations and attractions to promote local tourism. A subsidy of $10 was also provided for children and youth tickets for attractions and tours.

Since 28 March, a total of $108 million in vouchers and additional expenditure have been spent under the scheme.

A NOTE FROM SINGAPORE BUSINESS REVIEW

You're the reader we write for. You're also the person our partners want to reach.

If that sentence describes you — a founder, a C-suite, someone whose attention companies pay good money for — then you already understand why SBR works. We've spent twenty years earning the trust of readers exactly like you. Which is exactly what makes this an interesting place for your company to show up, too.

The ways it can show up are broader than most people assume — thought leadership articles, sponsored content, industry summits across Southeast Asia, regional awards programmes, podcasts, and media placements in print and digital. The right fit depends on what you're trying to do, which is why we'd rather start with a conversation than send a rate card.

If your company has something this audience should know about, we'd like to hear what you're working on.

No rate cards until we understand the brief. It's a better use of everyone's time.

30 One-Sentence Stories From People Who Have Built Better Habits
None of these stories are mine. They were sent to me by readers of Atomic Habits. My hope is that these examples will illustrate how real people are putting the book into practice. They will show you what people are actually doing to build good habits and break bad ones. And hopefully, they will spark some ideas for how you can do the same.
