Tan Tock Seng Hospital opens fund for sustainable healthcare

The new Health for Generations fund aims to raise $18m over the next five years.

Singapore’s Tan Tock Seng Hospital (TTSH) has announced the Health for Generations Fund aimed towards making healthcare more sustainable as part of its 180th-anniversary celebration.

As part of this initiative, the fund plans to raise $18m over the next five years to support developments in key areas such as innovation, preventive healthcare, and capability advancement.

“We must develop healthcare innovations and translate research from bench to bedside faster,” Tang Kong Choong, TTSH CEO, said.

The fund will support population health research projects, including the five-year “Health4All@Toa Payoh” longitudinal study to understand psychosocial and environmental factors influencing health.

Meanwhile, another research named “Predict-2-Prevent” will focus on 50,000 gene variants of 1,000 patients suffering from high blood pressure, cholesterol, or obesity to allow for more personalised and intensive intervention.

“The hospital will need equitable care solutions that will help patients attain their full potential for health and well-being,” Tang added.
