Sri Trang Gloves broadens reach with Singapore office

The expansion is a result of plans to increase production capacity by 186% over the next five years. 

Sri Trang Gloves (Thailand) (STGT) announced yesterday that an office in Singapore has been established to further their plans for expansion in the ASEAN region. 

The branch will run the distribution of latex gloves to international markets, as well as have supervision of the company’s research and development and product innovation. 

STGT CEO Jarinya Jirokul sees this as an opportunity to react to the increased demand for gloves.

“Amid the COVID-19 pandemic, global demand for latex and nitrile gloves has been rising very rapidly and this trend is expected to continue in the years ahead. To meet the growing demand, we have plans to increase STGT’s production capacity by more than 186% over the next five years. This will see us scaling up our glove production from about 35 billion pieces per year presently to 100 billion pieces a year by 2026.”

The company cites the Malaysian Rubber Gloves Manufacturers Association and their predicted demand of 500 billion gloves for 2021. Compared to the current supply of approximately 420 billion, the shortage is expected to last until 2023.

The Singapore office is the latest addition to STGT’s portfolio of subsidiaries in the United States, China and Thailand. The group also plans to have additional sectors in Vietnam, Indonesia, and the Philippines for both marketing and sales ventures.
