Singapore gov't increases caregivers' training grant to $400 per year

Caregivers can also use SkillsFuture Credit to defray training costs.

Starting in 2024, Singapore caregivers' training grant was increased to $400 per year, double that of the current $200, said the Ministry of Health.

"We will also allow caregivers to tap on their SkillsFuture Credit to pay for eligible caregiver courses, to further reduce the cost of training," read the statement.

The government is also eyeing to increase the number of subsidised training places for caregivers to 4,400 every year across 200 courses.

"AIC and SkillsFuture Singapore will add more places if needed to ensure that the needs of caregivers are met," it added.

Aside from this, the government also identified five firms to onboard onto the sandbox, which is meant to explore the viability of new stay-in shared caregiving models for seniors. The companies expect to serve over 800 senior clients.
