Over 6 in 10 life science professionals seeking new jobs in 2023: survey

Over half say that flexible working is important when seeking a new job.

Over 6 in 10 or 64% of Singapore’s life sciences professionals are on the lookout for a new job in 2023, according to a salary study by EPM Scientific.

Life science professionals seek higher compensation, enhanced opportunities, and better work-life balance, the employment agency found, based on a survey of 300 professionals. Almost half or 45% of respondents said that they will accept a job offer that offers a 16% to 20% pay rise.

One in five or 23%, meanwhile, are willing to accept a lower base salary in exchange for shares.

Flexible working or work from home is the most preferred work set-up, with 77% saying that this is important or very important when seeking a new job. However, 64% said that they are willing to accept a new job even if they are required to go to the office.

In terms of the current salary packages enjoyed by life science professionals, 22% are paid a US$50,000 to US$74,999 annual base salary; 19% are paid between $75,000 to $99,999 annually; 13% earn between US$100,000 to US$124,999; and 11% earn between US$200,000 to US$249,999.
