Fortis clarifies Singh's statement

The company said Mr. Singh’s remarks has meant to state that the SIC has given Fortis until 30 July 2010 to announce whether or not the Company intends to make an offer for Parkway.

The Board of Directors of Fortis Healthcare Limited refers to the article carried in the business section of The Straits Times dated 24 June 2010 entitled “Fortis chief keeps mum on Parkway”.

In the Article, Mr Malvinder Singh, Fortis Chairman, was quoted as having said, "At this point in time, I cannot say anything beyond just saying that we have our options open. We are evaluating every option, and SIC has given us till July 30 to do whatever we like to do."

The article appeared to report Mr Singh's remarks as his response to a question on the intended use of funds which Fortis had recently won board approval to raise, according to a Fortis announcement submitted on behalf of Parkway.

Fortis wishes to put the quote by Mr Singh into context saying Mr Singh’s remarks were made in relation to questions raised about the company’s response to the voluntary conditional cash partial offer by Khazanah Nasional Berhad, through its wholly-owned subsidiary Integrated Healthcare Holdings Limited, to acquire 313,000,000 shares in Parkway Holdings Limited.

In a statement released Saturday, Fortis said Mr Singh had meant to state that the Securities Industry Council (SIC) has given Fortis until 30 July 2010 to announce whether or not the Company intends to make an offer for Parkway. It is to be noted that under the SIC's Public Statement on Parkway dated 16 June 2010, the company has been required by the SIC to "announce by 30 July 2010 whether or not it will be making a general offer for Parkway, unless circumstances arise as to make an earlier or later date for such announcement more appropriate."

The Directors also said they are taking full responsibility for the recently released statement.

A NOTE FROM SINGAPORE BUSINESS REVIEW

You're the reader we write for. You're also the person our partners want to reach.

If that sentence describes you — a founder, a C-suite, someone whose attention companies pay good money for — then you already understand why SBR works. We've spent twenty years earning the trust of readers exactly like you. Which is exactly what makes this an interesting place for your company to show up, too.

The ways it can show up are broader than most people assume — thought leadership articles, sponsored content, industry summits across Southeast Asia, regional awards programmes, podcasts, and media placements in print and digital. The right fit depends on what you're trying to do, which is why we'd rather start with a conversation than send a rate card.

If your company has something this audience should know about, we'd like to hear what you're working on.

No rate cards until we understand the brief. It's a better use of everyone's time.

30 One-Sentence Stories From People Who Have Built Better Habits
None of these stories are mine. They were sent to me by readers of Atomic Habits. My hope is that these examples will illustrate how real people are putting the book into practice. They will show you what people are actually doing to build good habits and break bad ones. And hopefully, they will spark some ideas for how you can do the same.
