Council for Third Age & POSB launch Active Card

Singaporeans at least 45 years old are now further protected against fraud or theft while also enjoying healthcare privileges with the launch of the Active Card.

The Active Card, jointly created by Council for Third Age (C3A) and POSB, was launched by Mr Lim Boon Heng, Minister in Prime Minister’s Office, at the C3A’s 50Plus Expo at Suntec Singapore and witnessed by Mr Gerard Ee, Chairman of C3A and Mr Piyush Gupta, Chief Executive Officer of DBS Bank.

It is available to those 45 years old and above, and can be linked to either their POSB savings or DBS savings and current accounts. There are an estimated 1.25 million Singaporeans in that segment.

The Active Card offers older Singaporeans who are wary of using electronic means to pay for purchases the protection of zero liability for unauthorised transactions. This way the group will enjoy the convenience of electronic payment and avoid the potential hazards of carrying large amounts of cash around.

Another benefit for cardholders are healthcare privileges for general practitioner, specialist and dental consultations offered by Parkway Health Group, health and wellness privileges, and cash rebates when the card is used.

Mr Henry Quake, Chief Executive of the Council for Third Age (C3A), an independent organisation that promotes active ageing in Singapore, said, "Singapore's boomers and seniors are a strong consumer segment, and we wanted to provide them with a companion that would serve their specific needs, whether it’s discounts for products and services that they enjoy, or an environment in which they can transact safely and seamlessly."

"Many Singaporeans grew up with POSB and we are committed to serve their changing financial needs as they grow older. Our goal is to strengthen our affinity with this group and continue serving and actively engage the generations of Singaporeans from young to the seniors," commented Mr Koh Kar Siong, Managing Director and Head of POSB.

Contrary to popular belief, Lorem Ipsum is not simply random text. It has roots in a piece of classical Latin literature from 45 BC, making it over 2000 years old. Richard McClintock, a Latin professor at Hampden-Sydney College in Virginia, looked up one of the more obscure Latin words, consectetur, from a Lorem Ipsum passage, and going through the cites of the word in classical literature, discovered the undoubtable source. Lorem Ipsum comes from sections 1.10.32 and 1.10.33 of "de Finibus Bonorum et Malorum" (The Extremes of Good and Evil) by Cicero, written in 45 BC. This book is a treatise on the theory of ethics, very popular during the Renaissance. The first line of Lorem Ipsum, "Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet..", comes from a line in section 1.10.32.
