Majority to take COVID-19 vaccine if family, friends got it first: survey

Around 60% believe that a vaccine is safe if authorities have endorsed it.

Six out of 10 Singaporeans are more likely to be persuaded to take a COVID-19 vaccine if “friends, family or colleagues safely got it first,” according to a survey by Kantar.

Only 28% said they "definitely" would get a COVID-19 vaccine when available even though over two-thirds said they think their health would be seriously affected if they caught COVID-19.

Around 65% of Singaporeans said their hesitancy and fear stem from the speed of the development of the vaccine.

For information regarding the vaccine, 66% consider state health authorities in their country to be reliable whilst 56% also consider their country’s government as a reliable source of information.

Despite the wariness of most Singaporeans for a vaccine, 88% said they trust the government to “make the right decisions about making a COVID-19 vaccine available in Singapore."
