Associate Professor Tan Kok Hian, Chairman, Division of Obstetrics & Gynaecology and Senior Consultant, Maternal Fetal Medicine, at KKH, and a principal contributor to the app said: “Pregnancy is always a special event for every mother, regardless of the number of times she has been through it. As obstetricians, we know that mothers are always looking for credible information to learn more about their pregnancy and their baby. This app allows pregnant ladies to calculate their weeks of gestation according to their Last Menstruation Period or Estimated Date of Delivery. It also allows mothers to zoom into and follow the detailed week-by-week developments of their baby. Women who are not pregnant but who wish to know more about the pregnancy journey now also have credible information easily available.”

“Many of our patients are working mothers who need to tend to multiple duties in their workplace and home. Woman&Child Healthpedia allows parents to obtain information on the go without disrupting their daily busy schedules. In addition to health tips, the public can also keep abreast of health forums at KKH through the listing feature in the app,” said Mr Tan Jack Thian, Chief Operating Officer, KKH.

The app, Woman&Child Healthpedia can be downloaded free from the Apple App Store.

Contrary to popular belief, Lorem Ipsum is not simply random text. It has roots in a piece of classical Latin literature from 45 BC, making it over 2000 years old. Richard McClintock, a Latin professor at Hampden-Sydney College in Virginia, looked up one of the more obscure Latin words, consectetur, from a Lorem Ipsum passage, and going through the cites of the word in classical literature, discovered the undoubtable source. Lorem Ipsum comes from sections 1.10.32 and 1.10.33 of "de Finibus Bonorum et Malorum" (The Extremes of Good and Evil) by Cicero, written in 45 BC. This book is a treatise on the theory of ethics, very popular during the Renaissance. The first line of Lorem Ipsum, "Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet..", comes from a line in section 1.10.32.
