23-year old built an app to improve patient’s access to health in Asia

Even patients in rural locations are given assistance.

RingMD argues that medical care is neither always easily accessible nor convenient, whether it’s due to lack of access in rural regions of developed countries, or restriction by nascent infrastructure in developing countries. It adds that there are many individuals who are unable to receive the care that they desperately need on a regular basis.

As patient’s needs are evolving, patients’ care needs to evolve as well to provide the necessary care for these individuals. For example, many elderly patients suffer from chronic diseases, which need regular monitoring. However, the increasing lack of mobility that these patients experience can often make travelling to see a physician difficult and costly. This is where RingMD enters.

RingMD was founded by Justin Fulcher, who first started programming at age 7 and he created his first software company at age 13. When he visited SEA for the first time, he was shocked by the amount of individuals who lacked access to healthcare. During his stay, it inspired him to create RingMD, who’s mission is to connect every person on the planet to high quality, affordable healthcare.

RingMD enables medical professionals and their patients to be easily connected through online consultations. Justin believes that this will then result to efficient, cost effective and more convenient patient care.

“RingMD enables individuals to access consistent and cost effective care without requiring them to leave their homes. RingMD is also an attractive option for busy individuals who work long hours, are looking for a second opinion or travel frequently. The platform is also enabling improved remote access care for patients in rural locations,” Justin explained.

How RingMD works

RingMD works in an easy three-step process for patients to connect with doctors.

• Select a Doctor and Schedule an Appointment – patients choose a physician by speciality, identify their symptoms and suggest appointment times
• Receive Medical Advice – the doctor confirms appointment and perform online consultation via phone/video call over RingMD’s platform
• Pay securely – the patient pays via credit card which is processed through a secure payment gateway

The app can be downloaded free of charge and provides a complimentary Q&A service for patients who wish to submit a medical query and have it answered by qualified physician.
