Lay Ann Ong assumes leadership as honestbee's new CEO

Meanwhile, Jonathan Low, the last of the co-founders, submitted his resignation effective 11 July.

In a statement on 29 July, honestbee announced Lay Ann Ong's appointment as new CEO effective 15 July, replacing LG scion Brian Koo who headed temporarily after former CEO Joel Sng exited in May.

Lay Ann, as co-founders call him, is a director of ISDN Investments, the investment and trading arm of Singapore mainboard-listed ISDN Holdings, and Weststar Industrial Limited, an ASX-listed company.

The new CEO reportedly turned around an Australian precast concrete manufacturer on the mercy of judicial mismanagement. He will be focusing on bringing back value to honestbee’s stakeholders despite the recent setbacks.

Meanwhile, the company also announced the resignation of Jonathan Low, CTO of Honestbee, who led the engineering team in both Singapore and Taiwan, effective 11 July 2019. Low co-founded the company with Joel Sng and Isaac Tay in July 2015, and is the last of the pioneers to leave the company.

“It is my privilege to have worked with some of the best talent during my time here. The decision to leave honestbee was made before Lay Ann had come on board. However, I have full confidence that Lay Ann will help honestbee enter its next phase and recover from its recent setbacks,” said Low in a press statement.
