GrabFood opens first cloud kitchen in Singapore

A self-pick up option for customers would soon be introduced.

GrabFood announced the launch of its first cloud kitchen in Singapore and upcoming unified merchant app.

Located at the Hillview residencial area in Bukit Batok, the food delivery platform’s cloud kitchen is expected to house ten restaurant brands, offering the app’s most frequently searched food items such as bubble tea, mala and soup, as well as highly-demanded Japanese, Thai and Indian cuisines.

The cloud kitchen will also introduce three new virtual concepts: Lady Boss Mala, Waboru and Tiffin Wala. The location also houses GrabFood’s sixth namesake food hub that offers popular hawker food and beverages from packaged food brands like Tiger and Heineken.

“We hope to bridge cuisine demand and supply gaps, complement and expand the variety of food options at different price points in the area, and offer them conveniently to consumers through on-demand delivery, self-pick up or dine in,” GrabFood Singapore head Dilip Roussenaly said in a statement.

The food delivery brand currently runs 50 cloud kitchens across five Southeast Asian countries.

In 2019, Grab’s food delivery arm has sought a 173% increase in the number of their active users in Asia. It operates in 271 cities across seven Southeast Asian countries.

Meanwhile, GrabFood is slated to launch a new merchant app which would integrate services from Grab Financial Group and GrabAds intended to aid partner businesses to track their performances and operations.

A self-pick up option would soon be introduced to allow customers to order meals in-app before arriving at their choice food outlet.

Moreover, operational efficiency is promised as merchants with their own delivery fleet would soon be allowed to tap into Grab’s customer base through point-of-sale integration.

A NOTE FROM SINGAPORE BUSINESS REVIEW

You're the reader we write for. You're also the person our partners want to reach.

If that sentence describes you — a founder, a C-suite, someone whose attention companies pay good money for — then you already understand why SBR works. We've spent twenty years earning the trust of readers exactly like you. Which is exactly what makes this an interesting place for your company to show up, too.

The ways it can show up are broader than most people assume — thought leadership articles, sponsored content, industry summits across Southeast Asia, regional awards programmes, podcasts, and media placements in print and digital. The right fit depends on what you're trying to do, which is why we'd rather start with a conversation than send a rate card.

If your company has something this audience should know about, we'd like to hear what you're working on.

No rate cards until we understand the brief. It's a better use of everyone's time.

None of these stories are mine. They were sent to me by readers of Atomic Habits. My hope is that these examples will illustrate how real people are putting the book into practice. They will show you what people are actually doing to build good habits and break bad ones. And hopefully, they will spark some ideas for how you can do the same.
