Chart of the day: Restaurant sales drop 4.9% in June
This is against the robust growth seen in other F&B service segments.
This chart from the Department of Statistics shows that only the restaurant segment posted a negative growth in sales for the month of June, down 4.9%.
This is against the healthy turnout seen in fast food outlets, whose sales rose by 14.6%. Food caterers also posted growth at 4.9% and other eating places such as cafes at 1.3%.
Overall, the food and beverage services index registered a measly 1% growth in the said month.
The total sales value for the sector was estimated at $680m, higher than last year's $673m.
