Singapore's Jurong region to be one of Mondelēz’ research and development hub

Construction of RDQ centre in the city-state will commence in November 2016.

Global snacking company Mondelēz International has chosen the region of Jurong in Singapore to be one of nine locations worldwide where it will build its Research, Development & Quality (RDQ) network of technical centres for an investment of US$65 million.

According to Mondelez, the location of each technical centre is the result of considerable strategic analysis, and reflective of Mondelēz’ priority markets and business growth plan, with six of the nine centres in emerging markets.

The Singapore facility will be one of only three facilities of Mondelēz in Asia. The company will break ground on the new centre in November 2016.

“The new Singapore Technical Centre will be one of the first to open, with completion expected in Q1 2017, alongside the Wroclaw Technical Centre in Poland and following the refurbishment of the East Hanover Technical Centre towards the end of 2016. The Technical Centres in Suzhou and Mexico will follow, with our ambition to open these sites in late 2017. Thane is scheduled for early 2018,” Mondelez said in a press release.

Mondelēz International seeks to enhance its RDQ network as it will also help bolster its reputation as an aspirational employer, offering global opportunities and high quality technical training and experience, the group added.
