Lian Beng's revenue soared 39.6% to 328.1m

According to OSK, Lian Beng's revenue rose by 39.6% to SGD328.1m from SGD234.9m for 1HFY14 mainly due to higher revenue recognized from the construction segment and the property development segment.

Its dormitory business has also contributed approximately 2% of the Group's revenue. Gross profit increased 34.9% to SGD41.3m however profit after tax decreased by 3.8% to SGD19m due to higher distribution and other operating expenses.

The share of losses of associates of SGD2.6m was mainly due to the selling and marketing expenses arising from the sale of Newest, KAP Residences and Eco-tech Sunview.

Overall, cash and cash equivalents stood at SGD198m as at 30 November 2013, representing an improvement of SGD39.9m from SGD158.1m as at 30 November 2012.
