Cafe and canteen receipts decline as rest of F&B rebound

Fast food, restaurants and food caterers surge.

SingStat reports that for the month of June 2013 fast food outlets, restaurants and food caterers recorded increases in receipts of between 1.4% and 4.5% compared to the previous month, after seasonal adjustment.

On the other hand, turnover of other eating places (such as cafes and canteens) decreased marginally by 0.4% in June 2013 over May 2013.

On a year-on-year basis though cafes and canteens seemed to fare better. Compared to June 2012, all categories recorded increases in receipts in June 2013.

Turnover of fast food outlets, restaurants, food caterers and other eating places grew between 2.2% and 6.1% during this period, with the highest growth posted by fast food outlets and the lowest by other eating places like cafes and canteens.
