Public Bank Berhad appoints Lai Wai Keen as Director

Ms Lai's appointment would bring gender diversity to the Board.

The Board of Public Bank Berhad announced the appointment of Lai Wai Keen as Director.

Ms Lai is an appropriate person for appointment as Independent Non-Executive Director of Public Bank She holds a LLB degree in addition to a Business Administration degree, and in particular her legal qualification would enhance the mix of academic and professional qualifications of Board members. She also holds an impressive career record and is an internationally respected professional.

Ms Lai, 57, possesses extensive experience with Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM) and Perbadanan Insurans Deposit Malaysia (PIDM), concentrated in senior management and project leader positions, including significant central banking assignments. Ms Lai has over 20 years of banking regulatory experience with BNM, including in bank regulation, corporate communications, international negotiations and relations, deposit insurance systems and protection scheme for insurance policy holder. She was seconded to PIDM as General Manager, Policy and International in 2005 until her retirement in January 2011, according to a Public Bank Berhad report.

The appointment of Ms Lai Wai Keen had been approved by Bank Negara Malaysia.
