Aviva Singapore to cover COVID-19 vaccine side effects

This is included for clients' Integrated Shield Plan, MyShield and group plans.

Aviva Singapore has extended its health insurance coverage to include expenses arising from allergic reactions to the COVID-19 vaccine at no additional premium.

This coverage is included for their Integrated Shield Plan, MyShield, as well as group health insurance plans. The Health Sciences Authority must authorise the vaccine, and the individual must be medically eligible to receive it.

“We made this decision to assure Aviva’s policyholders who may have concerns about medical expenses should they encounter side effects from the vaccine. As an insurer, it is our responsibility to act quickly and meet the evolving needs and apprehensions of individuals, thus ensuring the country’s national vaccination effort can run smoothly,” said Aviva Singapore director of product & marketing Daniel Lum.
