WEF Special Annual Meeting in Singapore moved to August

Current travel restrictions hindered the possibility of an in-person meeting in H1.

The World Economic Forum (WEF) Special Annual Meeting 2021 to be held in Singapore would convene on 17–20 August, instead of 25–28 May, the WEF said in an announcement.

The change of the meeting’s schedule was primarily due to current global travel restrictions. Concurrently, varying quarantine and air transport regulations also extended the lead time needed to ensure that participants can make arrangements to join the event.

Following the success of WEF’s virtual Davos Agenda last January, the Special Annual Meeting 2021 would bring leaders face-to-face to “address the challenges of recovering from the pandemic and laying the basis for a more inclusive and sustainable world.”

“A global leadership summit needs the participation of all global stakeholders,” said Klaus Schwab, founder and executive chairman of the WEF. “The Special Annual Meeting in Singapore in August will provide the place for leaders from business, government, and civil society to come together to address the steps for global recovery.”
