Singapore dominates US, China in global talent competitiveness

It’s ranked second globally, behind Switzerland.

Singapore has again proven itself as a world contender in talent competitiveness, as the country has clinched second place—for the third consecutive year—in the Global Talent Competitiveness Index.

As in 2014, the list was dominated by Switzerland at top one, followed by Singapore, and then by Luxembourg.

According to the study, the countries in the top ten clearly demonstrated openness in terms of talent mobility. Almost 25% of the respective populations of Switzerland and Luxembourg were born abroad; while the proportion is even 43% in Singapore.

The study also revealed that new “talent magnets” are emerging—while the US, Singapore and Switzerland have long attracted overseas talent, competition is expected to spike among emerging talent hubs like Indonesia, Jordan, Chile, South Korea, Rwanda, and Azerbaijan.
