Singapore and Vietnam to launch initiatives to boost trade and investment ties

Energy, carbon credits, and boosting talent are amongst their priorities.

Singapore and Vietnam discussed key initiatives in energy, carbon credits, agri-trade, innovation, and industrial park cooperation at the 18th Singapore-Vietnam Connectivity Ministerial Meeting (CMM) on 18 September.

The initiatives will strengthen trade and investment ties between both countries.

The two countries will also launch the Singapore-Vietnam Innovation Talent Exchange Programme, allowing 300 talents from Singapore aged up to 35 and 300 talents from Vietnam aged up to 30 to work in innovation-related areas in each other’s countries for up to two years annually.

Set to be operational in H1 2025, the programme has already seen 14 companies and 16 Singaporeans pre-register to participate.

The companies come from sectors including technology, medical technology, professional services, banking and finance, and higher education.

In addition, Enterprise Singapore and Vietnam Foreign Investment Agency (FIA) also signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to establish a Singapore unit in the agency to boost Singaporean investments in Vietnam.
