Singapore and Ghana enhance trade and carbon credit cooperation

MTI vowed to expedite the Singapore-Ghana Implementation Agreement.

Singapore has reaffirmed its commitment to collaborate with Ghana on carbon credits.

In his state visit to Ghana from 14 to 18 July, Minister of State for Trade and Industry Alvin Tan committed to advancing carbon credits collaboration under the Singapore-Ghana Implementation Agreement, which governs carbon credits cooperation under Article 6 of the Paris Agreement.

Tan also met with John Kingsley Krugu, Executive Director of Ghana’s Environmental Protection Agency and pledged to expedite the operationalisation of the implementation agreement, aiming to develop high-integrity carbon credit projects to boost climate action and attract investments for carbon mitigation and adaptation in Ghana.

Meanwhile, Tan reaffirmed the friendly bilateral ties between Singapore and Ghana, welcoming stronger partnerships in trade and investments, fintech, and the green economy.

The official also explored opportunities to expand on existing and new linkages in areas of mutual interest, including the economy, trade, digital initiatives, and education.
