SG and Qatar ink 5 MOUs for water-related research and business digitalisation

The MOUs also include cooperation in social development, family, and education.

Singapore and Qatar governments signed five memoranda of understanding (MOU) to cooperate in areas of social development and family, education, water-related research, enterprise digitalisation and innovation, and commercial partnerships. 

In a statement, the two economies signed the following MOUs:

Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministry of Social Development and the Family of the State of Qatar and the Ministry of Social and Family Development of the Republic of Singapore in the Fields of Social Development and the Family

First Executive Programme on Education between the Ministry of Education of Singapore and the Ministry of Education and Higher Education of the State of Qatar

Memorandum of Understanding between Singapore’s National Water Agency, PUB and the Qatar Research Development and Innovation Council on knowledge exchange, collaboration on Open Innovation Challenges related to water, and participation in Singapore International Water Week

Memorandum of Understanding between Enterprise Singapore and the Qatar Development Bank on Enterprise Digitalisation and Innovation

Memorandum of Understanding between Enterprise Singapore and the Investment Promotion Agency of Qatar on fostering private sector partnerships

The MOUs were signed during the state visit of Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed in Singapore, where he had a discussion with Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong to boost cooperation in areas such as energy, trade and investment, and counter-radicalisation. 

“As small states, we share similar challenges and can learn from each other’s experience. They agreed that Singapore and Qatar should work closely together on strengthening the linkages between Southeast Asia and the Gulf. Both Prime Ministers also exchanged views on regional and international geopolitical developments,” read the statement.
