
More than $2.8m availed to back sustainability innovation solutions: gov't
There will be public and private partnerships to advance innovations.
The Enterprise Singapore (EnterpriseSG) and private partners rolled out the fourth edition of the Sustainability Open Innovation Challenge (SOIC) for crowdsourcing of innovative sustainability solutions.
In a speech at the Singapore Week of Innovation and TeCHnology 2022, Deputy Prime Minister Heng Swee Keat said there are 21 demand drivers that launched 20 challenge statements to source solutions in sustainable materials, renewable energy, and zero waste.

“For the first time, we will feature dedicated Partner Challenges to collectively address both local and global sustainability challenges,” read the statement.
Solution providers will join the partner challenges such as The Liveability Challenge by Temasek Foundation and the Sustainability in Textiles Challenge by the Singapore Fashion Council.
More than $2.8m was availed to back the development of innovative solutions.
EnterpriseSG will also revive the Trade and Connectivity Challenge for the fourth year to “further strengthen trade and connectivity innovation infrastructure.”
EnterpriseSG also rolled out the India Open Innovation Challenge, to help Singapore startups and tech small and medium-sized enterprises “capture opportunities in India’s rapidly urbanising and the digitalising economy."
Aside from this, the EnterpriseSG and the Ministry of Defence are collaborating to launch the inaugural Defence Innovation Challenge (DIC) 2022.
