MOH to restrict travel from Italy, France, Spain and Germany

Residents who recently travelled to these countries will have to self-quarantine for 14 days.

Businesses will have to defer sending their staff to Italy, France, Spain and Germany as the Ministry of Health (MOH) will restrict travel to and from these countries starting March 15, according to a press release.

In a move to curb the spread of COVID-19 in Singapore, visitors who have travelled to Italy, France, Spain and Germany within the last 14 days will be barred from entering into or transiting through Singapore.

At the same time, Stay-Home Notice (SHN) are placed for residents and long-term pass holders with recent travel history to Italy, France, Spain and Germany within the last 14 days. They will have to remain in their homes at all times for 14 days after returning to Singapore.

Residents and long-term pass holders returning from mainland China outside Hubei province, Iran, and South Korea will continue to be issued a 14-day SHN upon return to Singapore.

The ministry also advised Singaporeans to defer non-essential travel to these countries, and advised to exercise caution when travelling to countries affected by COVID-19, particularly those which have exported cases like Indonesia, the Philippines, and the UK.

Further, all ticketed cultural, sports and entertainment events with at least 250 participants will be deferred or cancelled. For events whose tickets have already been sold, the organisers are required to show that satisfactory precautionary measures have been put in place.

For other mass gatherings, including private functions and religious services, organisers are instead advised to reduce the scale of events to below 250 participants and reduce the crowding amongst participants.

They were also advised to put in place temperature and health screening measures, turn away persons who are unwell, and implement measures to facilitate contact tracing if needed, such as obtaining the contact details of participants.
