MOE to implement more AI tools for detailed education

Beginning in December, two learning feedback assistants will be implemented into the SLS.

The Ministry of Education (MOE) is set to introduce more AI features into the Singapore Student Learning Space (SLS) to enhance students' learning experiences and complement teacher guidance.

Starting from December 2023, two learning feedback assistants will be integrated into the SLS.

First is the Language Feedback Assistant for English (LangFA-EL), a tool which provides basic feedback on students' writing, covering areas such as spelling and grammar. 

Its aim is to allow teachers to concentrate on guiding students in more advanced aspects of language construction, like creative expression, persuasiveness, and tone.

The second is Short Answer Feedback Assistant (ShortAnsFA) which offers suggested grades and auto-generated content-related feedback for close-ended, short answer questions across various subjects and levels.

It enables teachers to provide students with quicker feedback by generating an initial draft of grades and comments that teachers can modify and expand upon.

In June, MOE introduced the Adaptive Learning System (ALS) for Mathematics, focusing on three topics at the Primary 5 level. 

The ALS utilises machine learning to deliver tailored learning recommendations for each student based on their responses to questions and activities. MOE plans to expand the ALS progressively to include more topics and levels.
