Hong Kong beats Singapore as freest economy
Ten economic freedom factors were assessed, and Hong Kong bested others in terms of financial and trade freedom.
A report by Hong Kong’s Information Services Department said, “Of the 10 economic freedom factors assessed, Hong Kong ranked first in financial and trade freedom, second in investment freedom and property rights, and third in business freedom.”
The 2012 Index of Economic Freedom by the Heritage Foundation, according to the report, ranked the degree of economic freedom of 179 economies around the world, with Singapore (scoring 87.5 out of 100) and Australia remaining at the second and third spots.
