Highest income group experienced inflation increase of 3.1% in 2010
Lowest and middle income groups experienced consumer price increases of 2.4% and 2.7% respectively.
Among the three income groups, highest income group experienced the highest consumer price increases.
According to Department of Statistics Singapore, main items contributing to higher CPIs for all income groups in 2010 were cars, food, electricity tariffs and petrol. With the exception of households in the top 20% income group, higher accommodation costs also contributed to the increase in the CPIs for other income groups in 2010.
