Guangdong offers opportunities for Singapore firms to develop the Greater Bay Area

They will touch on transport, education and smart city services, amongst others.

Chinese province Guangdong introduced opportunities for Singapore firms through the Singapore-Guangdong Collaboration Council (SGCC) meeting held in Singapore which saw the signing of 14 company agreements, an announcement revealed.

Singapore companies who joined the deals included ACP 3 , Ascendas-Singbridge, CapitaLand, ComfortDelGro, Neuron Mobility4 , Surbana Jurong and Warehouse Logistics Network Asia.

“Looking ahead, and especially with the development of the Greater Bay Area, we will go beyond traditional sectors to collaborate on innovation, modern services and high technology sectors like biomedical sciences,” minister for education Ong Ye Kung commented. “We can work together on developing smart cities, strengthening IP protection and commercialisation, and developing talent.”

Surbana Jurong and Guangzhou Academy of Special Equipment (GZSEI) inked deal to work on smart lift monitoring which is an extension from their first smart lift monitoring project in Guangzhou.

Meanwhile, transport startup Neuron Mobility signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Sino-Singapore Guangzhou Knowledge City Investment and Development and Ascendas Singbridge to set up the Neuron Smart Urban Mobility Innovation Centre which will aid global operations and research and development activities. The team will also pilot last mile transport solutions within the Sino-Singapore Guangzhou Knowledge City (SSGKC).

For education, Singapore education technology firm ACP will work with Guangzhou Bizsmart Software to build the world's first bilingual programming platform for children.

“This systematic teaching software platform will improve lesson delivery by ensuring consistent teaching approach and content, and allow parents to supervise their children's learning progress more easily,” the announcement revealed.

Moreover, cloud online learning platform Bamboo System Technology signed an MOU with Guangzhou education technology firm Yuxiutang to set up the Guangdong and Singapore Vocational Education Industry College Online platform which will combine vocational training content from Singapore and Guangdong to serve vocational schools and enterprises in both regions.

Also included in the deals is the MOU between the Singapore International Arbitration Centre (SIAC) and the Shenzhen Court of International Arbitration to develop and promote international arbitration services.
