
Green trademarks filings jump 30% in Singapore in the last five years: IPOS
Transportation innovations led green trademark filings in the past decade.
Sustainability-related innovation in Singapore is gathering steam with the city-state having experienced an over 30% jump in trademark filings for green-related goods and services in the past five years, according to the preliminary findings of a report by IPOS.
The study also showed green trademark filings doubled in the past 10 years with a compound annual growth rate (CARG) of 8.8%.
Green trademarks as a share of all trademark filings in the city-state increased from 8% in 2014 to 13% in 2023, according to the report.
Since 2014, 3,726 or 13% of the 28,730 total trademarks are green.

Green-related trademark filings for innovations related to transportation, climate change and reusables grew by nearly threefold.
Innovations related to energy production, pollution control, energy conservation, waste management, environmental awareness, and agriculture also saw higher green trademark filings over the past decade.
“Preliminary findings indicate that more businesses in Singapore are seeing the value in sustainable development, and innovating to provide more related solutions,” IPOS said.
