Grace Fu goes to Switzerland, Denmark to tackle climate action progress

Both events will be held in the first week and second week of May.

Minister for Sustainability and the Environment Grace Fu will attend symposiums and meetings in Switzerland and Denmark to tackle progress in actions to combat the climate crisis.

In a statement, Fu will be in Switzerland from 4 to 6 May whilst she will also be in Copenhagen, Denmark from 12 to 13 May for the May Ministerial Meeting on Implementation which will mark the 30th Anniversary of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC).

She will attend in the 51st St. Gallen Symposium in Switzerland, where she will participate in a plenary session, titled “When Investors Join Forces: the New Drivers of Political and Sustainable Change.” The session will be on 5 May 2022, where she will also present awards to top three winners in the Global Essay Competition.

At the ministerial meeting, Fu and other ministers will discuss the necessary steps for progress in enforcing climate actions, including in response to commitments from the UNFCCC, the Paris Agreement, previous Conference of the Parties (COP) decisions and most recently the Glasgow Climate Pact and related declarations and pledges from COP26.

Aside from the meetings, Fu will also go to the Netherlands from 7 to 10 May to learn about the latest Dutch innovations on sustainability. Her trip there will include visiting coastal protection infrastructure, chemical and waste recycling facilities, and food science research institutes.
