Grab co-founder and SEA Group CEO appointed as EDB board members

Their appointment has been effective starting 1 February.

The Ministry of Trade and Industry (MTI) has appointed Grab co-founder Tan Hooi Ling and SEA Group CEO and chair Forrest Li as board members of the Singapore Economic Development Board (EDB) starting 1 February, according to a press release.

As its founder, Li has served his position since the gaming company’s inception in 2009. He has also served as a member of Singapore’s Committee on the Future Economy between January 2016 and February 2017.

Li holds a Master of Business Administration degree from Stanford University’s Graduate School of Business and a bachelor’s degree in Engineering from Shanghai Jiaotong University.

Meanwhile, on top of co-founding Grab, Tan is a member of the National University of Singapore (NUS) Board of Trustees. She was also named in 2019 Forbes Asia’s Power Businesswomen list, as well as Fortune Magazine’s “40 under 40” list in 2017 and 2018.

Tan has a Bachelor of Engineering (Mechanical) from the University of Bath, and an MBA from Harvard Business School.
