Daily Briefing: Seniors to receive first batch of TraceTogether tokens; 13 tourist spots to reopen in July

And ICE71's 4th batch of cybersecurity startups have graduated.

Vulnerable seniors who are currently not digitally connected and at higher risk from COVID-19 will receive the first batch of TraceTogether tokens starting 28 June, according to Smart Nation and Digital Government Group (SNDGG).

This is said to help extend protection to as many people as possible, including those who may not own or prefer not to use a mobile phone. SNDGG added that the recipients will include those who are physically frail, living alone or have poor family support.

The Silver Generation Office will reach out to these seniors through house visits.

The first version will have an estimated battery life of six to nine months and does not require any charging. Each TraceTogether token will have a unique QR code and is personalised for the recipient's use only.

Tourism-linked businesses will be allowed to reopen in stages during Phase 2 of reopening, beginning with 13 attractions starting 1 July, said the Singapore Tourism Board (STB).

The casinos at Marina Bay Sands and Resorts World Sentosa, Universal Studios Singapore and Singapore Zoo may resume operations after having had their safe reopening proposals approved after three months of closure.

The other attractions that can reopen from 1 July are ArtScience Museum, Sands SkyPark and Observation Deck, Flower Dome at Gardens by the Bay, S.E.A. Aquarium, Madame Tussauds, Jurong Bird Park, River Safari, Bounce, and Zero Latency.

Domestic tour operators may also start submitting applications to resume operations.

Most attractions will be restricted to 25% of their operating capacity and should apply other safe management measures to reduce the COVID-19 transmission risks of each attraction or tour. Such measures must be included in their reopening proposals, which will be assessed by the tourism board.

Innovation Cybersecurity Ecosystem at BLOCK71 (ICE71) has introduced the nine startups who graduated from the fourth batch of its accelerator programme, ICE71 Accelerate.

The startups are said to have focused on the topic of the increasing cyber threats related to data security and privacy as companies accelerate their digitalisation and more people study or work from home during and after the pandemic. They hail from Singapore, Australia, Israel, the UK, the US, and Poland.

The nine startups include, Assimi8, Chainkit, GamaSec, Guardara, Kapalya, Kinnami, neoEYED, Olympus Sky Technologies, and Scantist.

The three-month programme for early-stage cybersecurity startups was first started in July 2018 with the intention to provide a platform for the startups to attract investors and secure funding.

ICE71 Accelerate has supported a total of 34 cybersecurity startups through four cohorts.
