Around 9 in 10 Singaporeans rebalance life priorities post-COVID

They are now prioritising connection with their loved ones and their well-being.

Around 88% of Singaporeans are reassessing their lives, rebalancing their priorities to make up for the lost time due to the pandemic.

In a report, global health service provider Cigna Healthcare found that many Singaporeans, particularly respondents under 45 years old, are thinking about non-materialistic aspects such as connection with family and friends, physical and emotional well-being and work fulfilment.

Its survey showed that 52% said they would like to spend more time with their family. As for health and well-being, 31% are looking into more natural approaches to diet and well-being.

As the pandemic prompted them to rethink their careers, around 23% of Singaporeans want to find a new job that is more fulfilling, whilst 21% wish to retire early.

The Lion City also has the second highest proportion of markets that are now more worried about illness at 41%, following Hong Kong.

“Our research shows that the people in Singapore have become more resilient and adaptable to change after the pandemic. At the same time, our priorities and aspirations have evolved, with many now valuing family and emotional well-being more, which we see as a silver lining from the crisis,” said Raymond Ng. CEO & Country Manager, Cigna Healthcare Singapore & Australia.

The survey included almost 9,000 people globally, 1,100 are from Singapore, Cigna said.
