61% of overseas electors cast their votes
The overseas votes for the recent Presidential Election were counted on 31 August 2011.
According to the Elections Department, 3,375 out of 5,504 registered overseas electors turned up at the 9 overseas polling stations to cast their votes.
The votes were tallied at the counting centre at the People’s Association, King George’s Avenue.
The total number of votes cast (local and overseas) for Presidential Election 2011 is 2,156,389. This figure includes the 37,849 rejected votes.
Of the total valid votes cast, Dr Tony Tan got 745,693 or 35.2%.
