1.4 million Singaporeans to benefit from $570m in GST vouchers in August

Notifications will be sent out starting 1 July to 3 July.

Eligible Singaporeans will receive up to $300 in cash from GST Vouchers, whilst eligible seniors will get up to $450 in MediSave top-ups for August, according to the Ministry of Finance (MOF). About 1.4 million Singaporeans will benefit from the scheme, totalling $570m.

Specifically, cash payouts will amount to $410m, whilst MediSave top-ups will constitute the remaining $160m.

Eligible individuals who have registered their mobile numbers with SingPass will receive SMS notifications between 1 to 3 July, informing them of their GSTV benefits. The rest will receive letters from 1 July.

Those who wish to view their GSTV – Cash and MediSave benefits online can do so at the GST Voucher website.

The GSTV – Cash of up to $300 will be credited directly into citizens’ bank accounts starting 1 August. As for those who have not provided their bank account numbers, interested individuals may do so at the website until 22 July. The rest will receive cheques sent to their official address by 17 August.

The scheme was introduced in 2012 to help lower- and middle-income Singaporeans offset some of their GST expenses.
