Indonesia's first trade deficit in 19 months hits US$271.2m
Blame an oil and gas deficit of US$604m.
Indonesia's trade balance turns into a deficit of US$271.2m in July, the first the country has had in almost two years.
In a report by Indonesia Investments, data were rather distorted, because of the Ramadan and Idul Fitri holiday that fell in June.
The country's exports rose by 41.1% YoY to US$13.6b, whilst imports hiked 54% to US$13.9b.
Badan Pusat Statistik (BPS) head Suhariyanto said a deficit in the oil and gas balance of US$604m affected overall trade balance. However, non-oil and gas trade balance saw a 61% rise of US$332.9m.
