URA launches request for proposals for Jurong Lake District

It’s envisioned as Singapore’s second CBD.

The Urban Redevelopment Authority (URA) is ramping up its efforts to develop the Jurong Lake District. URA has launched a Request for Proposal (RFP), inviting multi-disciplinary teams to develop master plan proposals.

According to the URA’s media release, the RFP is the district’s maiden step in its transformation into a “District of the Future,” as well as Singapore’s second Central Business District (CBD).

A key focus of the master planning will focus on developing proposals for Lakeside Gateway, the District’s third precinct. The first two precincts include a commercial hub, Jurong Gateway, and a leisure precinct, Lakeside.

Lakeside Gateway will serve as a mixed-use business precinct and a home to the future Kuala Lumpur-Singapore High-Speed Rail terminus. URA reveals that Lakeside Gateway is a 112 ha site, and has a gross floor area of between 4-5m sqm.

The team that submits the best plan will be appointed in February 2017. It will collaborate with URA and partner agencies to draw up the Draft Master Plan for the District. URA will then publicly exhibit the Draft Master Plan around 3Q17. Thereafter, the appointed team will work with URA to refine the plans.
