SLA and URA call for proposals to renovate state properties

Bukit Timah Fire Station and Old Kallang Airport are some of the properties that will be part of the programme’s first phase.

The Singapore Land Authority (SLA) and the Urban Redevelopment Authority (URA) are accepting proposals for the renovation of available state-owned spaces in key selected precincts, under the Reinventing Spaces into Vibrant Places (RSVP) initiative.

RSVP aims to transform ageing properties into vibrant spaces for community interactions and also serve as a platform for business owners, architects and designers to test creative concepts.

These agencies said that the overall concept and proposed uses of the site should complement other offerings in the precinct to enhance the visitor experience through suitable programming.

Bukit Timah Fire Station, 30 Maxwell Road, 15-31 Hindoo Road, Old Kallang Airport and Marina Bay land parcels are the six properties under the first phase of the programme. The URA and SLA will continue to identify potential sites for tender under RSVP which could range from shophouses, standalone buildings and utility infrastructure.

Many State properties such as the Old Kallang Airport and Bukit Timah Fire Station along the Rail Corridor are iconic and have a long and rich history. We see opportunities for these sites to be creatively adapted for different uses that can complement and meet the needs of the community,” Yap Eai-Sy, Director of Business Planning and Development, SLA said in a statement.

SLA and URA also launched the first state properties for tender, in the form of two shophouses at 45 Sultan Gate.
