Nanyang Polytechnic, Schneider Electric launch sustainability centre

This is set to help Singapore achieve its goal of 80% of buildings to be green by 2030. 

A one-stop Sustainability Experience Centre was launched as a result of a partnership between Nanyang Polytechnic (NYP) and Schneider Electric. 

The initiative aims to aid in Singapore’s push in its goal of attaining at least 80% of green buildings by 2020, as well as introduce small- and medium-sized enterprises to implement green technologies. 

Sustainable facilities management will be a key showcase, as well as the applications of augmented reality for instant diagnosis and contactless maintenance. This, in turn, will help SMEs operate more sustainably and efficiently. 

Power usage and energy consumption will also be highlighted through the application of automation and sensors. Technology from Schneider Electric’s EcoStruxure Building Operation 3.0 and its applications towards this goal is part of the centre, as well. An implementation of this solution can result in at least 50% energy savings. 

Students from NYP’s School of Engineering will also be able to experience hands-on solutions used by the industry to meet sustainability goals.
