CapitaLand adopts CaaS systems in three flagship commercial properties in Singapore

Raffles City Singapore will be the largest development in the city-state to have a CaaS model.

CapitaLand Investment (CLI) announced Tuesday that it is adopting cooling-as-a-service (CaaS) systems in some of its flagship properties in Central Singapore.

Temasek-backed CLI said the (CaaS) systems will be adopted in Raffles City Singapore, Plaza Singapura and The Atrium@Orchard, covering a combined GFA of 4.8 million sqft.

The Raffles City Singapore will become the largest development in Singapore and among the biggest in Southeast Asia to adopt the CaaS system to date, according to the company.

The CaaS contract for the 3.45m sqft integrated complex was awarded to Keppel while the contract for Plaza Singapura and The Atrium@Orchard was granted to ENGIE South East Asia.

CLI estimated these systems to reduce power consumption in the three properties by over 30%, and save at least 118,680 tonnes of carbon emissions over the 15-year operating period.

It added that that amount of energy saved could even power over 4,800 four-room HDB flats each year.

CaaS is a type of business model that allows asset operators to outsource cooling rather than purchasing, installing and maintaining these systems themselves.

Contrary to popular belief, Lorem Ipsum is not simply random text. It has roots in a piece of classical Latin literature from 45 BC, making it over 2000 years old. Richard McClintock, a Latin professor at Hampden-Sydney College in Virginia, looked up one of the more obscure Latin words, consectetur, from a Lorem Ipsum passage, and going through the cites of the word in classical literature, discovered the undoubtable source. Lorem Ipsum comes from sections 1.10.32 and 1.10.33 of "de Finibus Bonorum et Malorum" (The Extremes of Good and Evil) by Cicero, written in 45 BC. This book is a treatise on the theory of ethics, very popular during the Renaissance. The first line of Lorem Ipsum, "Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet..", comes from a line in section 1.10.32.
