Far East Organization gears up for S$112.8m The Scotts Tower

It will be its first SOHO development.

According to a release, Far East Organization announced that Daewoo Engineering and Construction has been appointed to build the group’s first Far East SOHO development, The Scotts Tower (TST).

The cost of construction is S$112.8 million. This collaboration was marked with an official signing ceremony at The Scotts Tower show gallery.

Designed by Dutch architect Ben van Berkel of UNStudio, TST features the unique vertical city concept, with outdoor sky terraces and roof gardens integrated into the various levels within the development.

"With Daewoo's strong engineering capabilities and track record of delivering high quality work on challenging international assignments, we are confident that they will be able to bring to life our vision for The Scotts Tower and the Far East SOHO concept,” says Mr Chng Kiong Huat, Executive Director, Property Services, Far East Organization.

“Daewoo’s strong stance on safety also resonates with our philosophy as a developer who cares for the people, and we look forward to this partnership.”

Daewoo E&C is no stranger to Singapore, having lent their expertise to shaping the nation's infrastructure by building 8,000 public housing units in the 1980s and the Kallang-Paya Lebar Expressway in 2001.

The organization exited the local market in 2009 to develop and consolidate their portfolio in the Middle East and Africa regions, and has now set their sights on the Southeast Asia market, with Singapore as a priority.

TST is one of Daewoo’s first projects in Singapore after re-entering the Singapore market.

"The growing economies in this region present an exciting real estate landscape, and we believe this is an appropriate time for us to refocus our business on the potential in Singapore as well as in the Southeast Asia region. We are very pleased to have this opportunity to work on The Scotts Tower, and contribute to bringing Far East’s SOHO lifestyle concept to the market. We look forward to expanding our presence here and to bringing value to our partners and projects through our construction technologies and standards,” says Mr Kang Woo Shin, Executive Vice President, Overseas Business Division, Daewoo E&C.

Daewoo E&C’s expertise extends to building energy plants, civil, and building works, with a portfolio that includes healthcare and educational institutions, public, commercial and residential projects.

Notable completed and ongoing projects in the region include Kuala Lumpur’s IB Tower and the KLCC, as well as the passenger terminal in Seoul’s Incheon International airport.

Far East SOHO’s three key attributes – strategic locale, flexible space and excellent connectivity – are brought to life in the 31-storey, 231-unit development consisting of one- to three-bedroom apartments and 4-bedroom penthouses.

Each TST unit comes with high ceilings of 3.4m in height, borderless floor spaces, floor-to-ceiling windows, as well as edgy artistic designs.

Penthouse owners can enjoy up to 4.6m of floor-to-ceiling height and have access to their personal roof gardens, overlooking the Singapore cityscape. Every Far East SOHO unit is like a blank canvas – homeowners are able to customize the space according to their lifestyles and aspirations with the given semi-white plan.

Other than its close proximity to Orchard Road, TST also offers seamless connectivity to the rest of Singapore via the Pan Island Expressway (PIE) and Central Expressway(CTE). Residents will also have access to TST’s expansive landscaped gardens, sky terraces and a bevy of other recreational facilities.

The piling works for TST commenced in October 2012. TST is estimated to be completed by 2016.

You're the reader we write for. You're also the person our partners want to reach.

If that sentence describes you — a founder, a C-suite, someone whose attention companies pay good money for — then you already understand why SBR works. We've spent twenty years earning the trust of readers exactly like you. Which is exactly what makes this an interesting place for your company to show up, too.

The ways it can show up are broader than most people assume — thought leadership articles, sponsored content, industry summits across Southeast Asia, regional awards programmes, podcasts, and media placements in print and digital. The right fit depends on what you're trying to do, which is why we'd rather start with a conversation than send a rate card.

If your company has something this audience should know about, we'd like to hear what you're working on.

No rate cards until we understand the brief. It's a better use of everyone's time.

None of these stories are mine. They were sent to me by readers of Atomic Habits. My hope is that these examples will illustrate how real people are putting the book into practice. They will show you what people are actually doing to build good habits and break bad ones. And hopefully, they will spark some ideas for how you can do the same.
