Look at this amazing bakery café with iconic illustrations emblazoned on flame glass inserts

Cedele by The Bakery Depot is an 800 square feet café completed within three months.

Singapore Business Review interviewed Kyoob-ID, the firm responsible for the design of the space.

SBR: Who was the client? What were the needs/requests of the client for their space?

Cedele by The Bakery Depot is a home-grown bakery café committed to whipping up delicious and healthy food from its array of natural and organic recipes. Currently it has 23 outlets in Singapore. The client requested for the café outlet to be visually impactful, noticeable, and be able to accommodate as many seats as possible. The 800 square feet café was completed within three months.

SBR: What is significant/unique about this project/design?

It’s a café space without a ceiling because of its location at the main passageway of a shopping mall atrium. The spatial programme has to take into consideration the framework and operational flow of the bakery café without compromising the open layout.

SBR: Please give us a brief description of the space after the refurbishments.

Swathes of light from the building structure bathe the bakery café, lending diners warmth and relief from cooped-up air-conditioned offices. Different types of furniture pepper the space: large table slabs carved from oak timber, malt cushioned seating, and chic black chairs.

Following the design language from the Cedele café at Serangoon Gardens (also crafted by Kyoob-ID), its iconic illustrations are emblazoned on flame glass inserts on white-washed brick walls, a modern articulation of material diversity.

References to nature are drawn from an earthy colour palette and timber furniture that wraps the café throughout. The rest of the space is styled in cool white from table surfaces to counter tops, giving the café a clean and approachable impression.

A NOTE FROM SINGAPORE BUSINESS REVIEW

You're the reader we write for. You're also the person our partners want to reach.

If that sentence describes you — a founder, a C-suite, someone whose attention companies pay good money for — then you already understand why SBR works. We've spent twenty years earning the trust of readers exactly like you. Which is exactly what makes this an interesting place for your company to show up, too.

The ways it can show up are broader than most people assume — thought leadership articles, sponsored content, industry summits across Southeast Asia, regional awards programmes, podcasts, and media placements in print and digital. The right fit depends on what you're trying to do, which is why we'd rather start with a conversation than send a rate card.

If your company has something this audience should know about, we'd like to hear what you're working on.

No rate cards until we understand the brief. It's a better use of everyone's time.

30 One-Sentence Stories From People Who Have Built Better Habits
None of these stories are mine. They were sent to me by readers of Atomic Habits. My hope is that these examples will illustrate how real people are putting the book into practice. They will show you what people are actually doing to build good habits and break bad ones. And hopefully, they will spark some ideas for how you can do the same.
