The Great Room, a hospitality-inspired coworking space has officially launched last July 16 at One George Street. It was founded by a hotelier, Jaelle Ang, who has been spearheading the development of the ultra-luxury Capella Hotel, Four Seasons Hotel and the 73-storey Four Seasons Private Residences in Bangkok in the last five years.

Jaelle said that The Great Room is dedicated to changing the way people feel about going to work - even from the moment you step into it.

“When you walk into a well-designed hotel lobby, it feels different from conducting business in a stiff and grey office,” said Jaelle as she shared her inspiration behind founding the company.

“You feel an elevated sense of purpose and connection with people. Like today is the day you are going to sign that deal, or meet that special business partner,” she added.

Following her lead, the design of the 15,000 square feet Grade A space is designed by hospitality specialist Distillery Studio and office designer Hassell. Distillery Studio also designed Manhattan Bar at Regent Hotel and Club Hotel.

Besides hotdesks and dedicated offices of coworking spaces, The Great Room claims of pioneering the concept of 'Hot Office' in Singapore. It allows for members to have most of the security, privacy and convenience of a dedicated office, at a fraction of the cost. Jaelle explains that in a ‘hot office,’ business concierges act as connectors between members and the local community. They facilitate interactions and serendipity between members, and create opportunities for them to share ideas and forge friendships. "A roster of private and public events keeps the space energetic and ensures that members will have a business social network that is always expanding," she added.

The Great Room also offers a complimentary Monday Breakfast Club, and as the day winds down, a turn down cart brings around a warm cookie for those who are staying late to work.
