Asia Square to be fully leased by mid-2012

So if you plan to rent a space in the ‘human building,’ you better be quick.

According to Luke Moffat, head of office leasing at Asia Square, they expect the remaining 30% to be filled up by middle of next year as they get about 4-5 new tenants every week to come and look at the building.

Speaking at the official opening of Asia Square, Moffat noted that they made a “conscious decision” to make sure that Asian Square houses different kinds of businesses. “We wanted to have a good mix of tenants in the building. So in the future you’ll see great sorts of companies - South East Asian companies, commodity companies.”

While Asia Square adds to more supply of office spaces in Singapore, Moffat said he sees that there’s less competition coming up in the medium term. “I know that there’s been reports saying there’s a lot of new supply coming up but most of the supplies will come up in the years from 2015 and beyond so there’s a lot time between now and then,” he added. 

Asia Square bills itself as a place to Live, Work, and Play. There are a range of great restaurants and bars as part of the building, the standout of which is The Exchange, a glass and marble bar which features famous financial felons on the wall and will officially open on Friday November 9.
